CLV = taken decimal / closing decimal − 1; quoted closing price is not a probability forecast.

Price-based closing line value formula

Using taken odds Dₜ and closing odds D꜀, the return-based comparison is Dₜ / D꜀ − 1. Taking 2.10 before a 2.00 close gives 5% by this definition. Other reports use an implied-probability difference or remove margin first, so state the definition when comparing results.

Implied chance falls as decimal odds rise. The tool also reports 1/Dₜ and 1/D꜀. A closing price is a market observation, not verified outcome probability. Use the no-vig calculator if you have a complete closing market and want a normalized reference.

Compare the same selection and settlement

Both prices must refer to the same outcome, handicap, settlement and currency assumptions. A different point spread is a different bet. No live odds or performance record is inferred from two entered prices.
