Natural blackjack: same stake, two payouts
| Stake | 3:2 net profit | 6:5 net profit |
|---|---|---|
| $5.00 | $7.50 | $6.00 |
| $10.00 | $15.00 | $12.00 |
| $20.00 | $30.00 | $24.00 |
| $100.00 | $150.00 | $120.00 |
A natural and an ordinary win differ
A natural blackjack is the initial two-card blackjack under the game’s rules. At 3:2, a $20 natural earns $30 profit; at 6:5 it earns $24. The original $20 stake is returned separately.
An ordinary winning hand pays 1:1
A $20 ordinary winning hand earns $20 profit and returns $40. A push returns the $20 stake with no net profit. A loss returns nothing. Check the actual rules for doubles, splits and other special outcomes.
A payout is not a house-edge calculation
This tool does not simulate a shoe or choose a move. Deck count, dealer rules, player decisions and special payouts affect probabilities and expected value. The displayed ratio alone cannot determine the full game’s house edge.
How to calculate 3 to 2 and 6 to 5 payouts
For a natural blackjack, multiply the stake by 1.5 at 3:2 or by 1.2 at 6:5. Add the original stake for total return. A $10 natural therefore earns $15 at 3:2 and returns $25; at 6:5 it earns $12 and returns $22.
The difference in profit is 0.3 times the stake whenever the natural receives those payouts. This ratio comparison alone does not calculate a game’s complete house edge.

Payout arithmetic versus blackjack probability
Use the blackjack probability calculator for the chance of an initial natural or busting on one hit with a supplied shoe. For mean, variance and a supplied outcome model, use blackjack expected value. For a running and true Hi-Lo count, use the card counting calculator. None of these should be mistaken for a next-hand prediction.
