Roulette
Roulette versus other casino games
Compare the same measure across games. The chance of winning a bet, its payout and its house edge answer different questions, and each requires specific rules.
Start with a defined roulette bet
A standard European red bet has an 18/37 chance of winning and a 2.70% house edge. The equivalent double-zero bet wins on 18/38 and has a 5.26% edge. Always state the wheel and zero rule.
Roulette versus blackjack
Blackjack comparisons need the full rules and a defined player decision strategy. A quoted low blackjack house edge cannot be transferred to every table or to arbitrary play. There is no single universal figure that can be compared with roulette without those assumptions.
Roulette versus craps
Craps offers different wagers and settlement conditions. Specify the exact wager and whether an accompanying odds bet is included before comparing expected loss. A generic “craps odds” figure is insufficient for a like-for-like comparison.
Roulette versus baccarat
A baccarat comparison needs the chosen wager and its commission or payout rules. A high chance of a payout does not automatically imply a low house edge. This guide deliberately avoids a universal casino-game ranking.
